McLean and Mac Moore

McLean Lighting

Since its founding in 1985 in Greensboro, North Carolina, McLean Lighting remains one of the most recognized lighting companies in the lighting industry. McLean Lighting manufactures fine interior and exterior eighteenth and nineteenth century reproduction and custom lighting. Founder Mac Moore, along with his son McLean, strive to preserve the integrity of each lighting piece they manufacture. Mac’s passion lies in searching estates and auctions around the country and globe for unique period fixtures. His vision for restoration and authentic reproduction is unparalleled. His relationships with the company’s blacksmiths and craftsmen make each fixture a true labor of love. McLean began working for the company in the early 90’s. He started his lighting career building and soldering along the fellow artisans. While McLean oversees many of the company’s daily operations today, he continues to work on the lighting fixtures himself. This ensures the quality product both Mac and McLean proudly stand behind. Mac and McLean’s personal attention to each lighting detail and their relationships with craftspeople, suppliers, designers, clients, architects and showrooms make them a standout in the world of custom, hand crafted lighting.

All McLean reproduction lights are intricately hand recreated from detailed patterns. They are replicated from original lights in our own collection of antique European and American fixtures. While embracing American craftsmanship, every light is handmade in the tradition of years past using the same techniques and methods with updated tools and equipment. All lights are recreated in brass, copper, zinc and/or tin, and are updated with electrical or gas fittings for today’s functional applications. Hand rubbed patina finishes insure an antique look of every light upon delivery, and these finishes will continue to age and oxidize naturally over time for an even more authentic feel.

McLean Lighting Works also designs and creates custom lighting for special applications. Please see our Custom section for additional information.
